The Board of Directors of the Hudson Foundation has announced that Dave and Jan Sheely of Hudson are the recipients of the 2017 Spirit of Hudson Award. Dave and Jan are both retired Hudson Area Schools’ teachers, own the Pro Shop and P.S. Graphics in Hudson. 

“The Sheelys are active in their church, give selflessly to the Hudson Community and then ask what else they can do,” said Claude Rowley, president of the Hudson Foundation. “They are the essence of the Spirit of Hudson.”

The Sheelys will be honored at the Hudson Foundation’s annual dinner on February 25 at 6:00 P.M. at the Hudson American Legion, 16113 Cadmus Rd, Hudson. Tickets are $25 per person and are available by calling Barb Ireland 517.306.0113, or emailing the Hudson Foundation at hudsonfdn@gmail.com. 

The Spirit of Hudson Award honors those who best exemplify the community's sense of dedication and spirit. Past recipients of the award include, Dave and Jan Rickard (2014), Dennis and Pam Smoke (2015) and Cindy Corner (2016).

The Hudson Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Spirit of Hudson Award. The annual award honors those who best exemplify the community's sense of dedication and spirit. A ceremony for the recipient will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

Past recipients of the award include, Dave and Jan Rickard (2014), Dennis and Pam Smoke (2015) and Cindy Corner (2016).

In order to be eligible for the award, the nominee must meet the following requirements:
  • The person must have been a Hudson area resident for at least five years.
  • The nominee’s actions must have contributed to the quality of life in Hudson.
  • People in need of help have benefited from the nominee’s actions.
  • The nominee’s deeds were done without thought of personal benefit or recognition.
  • The nominee is not currently serving as an elected public official or as a member of the Hudson Foundation’s board.
